NFL Teams with the Longest Consecutive Playoff Appearance Streaks, All-Time
Posted by Vin Getz
No NFL team – going back to 1920 – has made the postseason 10 times in a row. The Dallas Cowboys of the late 1970’s and Peyton Manning‘s Indianapolis Colts of the 2000’s went to the playoffs nine consecutive times. That’s the most.
The record could have been more, a lot more. The Cowboys made the postseason in the years 1966-1973, missed 1974, then picked up again between 1975-1983. Had they made it in 1974, that would have been 18 years in a row.
The San Francisco 49ers pulled a similar feat, hitting the playoffs between 1983-1990 and again between 1992-1998. Had they gone in 1991, too, it would have been 16 straight seasons.
Now those are some postseason dynasties.
Below find every team with at least six consecutive postseason appearances. It’s happened 16 times, but by only 12 teams. The Cowboys are on there three times.
The 2014 Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots could be next on the list. They’re sitting on a streak of five right now.
