Major League Baseball: Top 20 Players with the Most World Series Rings
Posted by Vin Getz
Some time back, Sports List of the Day looked at all 27 Yankee championships and also franchises with the most world series wins.
But which players have the most World Series rings? Here’s a list of the top 20.
It’s a list dominated by New York Yankees. Of the 26 players on the list only three possess rings as members of other teams, including Babe Ruth who won three with the Boston Red Sox. Only one – Eddie Collins – does not possess a Yankee ring.
Who gets a World Series ring, by the way? That would be anyone on the postseason active roster, players left off the postseason roster, coaches, and generally (though not mandatory) any one who was on the active roster for the team at any point in the season, even if for only one game.
The latter category, along with selected front office personnel, cheerleaders, etc – are up to the organization. Often, many of these affiliated personnel get rings. In the case of being on the roster for as little as one game – frequently these players get rings.
Take, for example, Ralph Houk, who only played 91 games in eight seasons, yet is the proud owner of six World Series rings.
So, here’s the list of players with the most world series rings – as players.

Ralph Houk also has at least two more as the manager of the 1961 and 1962 Yankees.
Thanks for the comment Gary. That is correct. Houk has those two additional rings as a manager. This list covers those who earned rings as active players on their team’s roster for WS winning seasons.
Frankie Crosetti, for example, has 8 rings as a player, but he actually is the player/coach with the most rings of all time, if you include his coaching years – he was the Yankees 3rd base coach for another 20 years after retiring from the field. During that time he won another 9 WS rings. So Crosetti, all together, has 17 rings. Wow.
How about as a player and a coach. Cause yogi has three more as a coach 69 mets and 77 and 78 with the yanks. That’s 13 total.
Yeah Lou I have to do that one! Thanks for the comment!

Of the 26 players listed, Eddie Collins was the only one who didn’t play for the Yankees. From 1921 through 1964, The Yankees won 66% of the pennants; 29 pennants won. In those 44 years, the rest of the A.L. combined for 15 pennants. Every team won at least once. Tigers (4), A’s (3), Senators (3), Indians (2) and Red Sox, White Sox, and Browns once each. The Reds became the Redlegs due to anti-communist sentiment.
