Baseball Teams with the Highest Attendance this Century (2000-2012)
Posted by Vin Getz
Boy – pro baseball, Florida and consistent names just don’t mix. The Miami (nee Florida) Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays (nee Devil Rays) have the worst attendance of any MLB team since the turn of the century – the only two teams who have failed to draw 20 million.
The New York Yankees have the best – almost 50 million fans punched (infrared-ed?) their tickets at both Yankee Stadiums between 2000 and 2012.
The Yankees’ old New York rivals are still huge out on the West Coast, too. The L.A. Dodgers and San Francisco Giants have also drawn over 40 million since 2000, joining the Yankees and another classic team, the St. Louis Cardinals, as the only four baseball teams to crack that level of attendance.
