MLB: The Top 20 Home Teams in Baseball History – Greatest Home Seasons
Posted by Vin Getz
Sports List of the Day has been looking at baseball home and road records the past couple of days, all-time franchise records to be exact.
But what about individual teams? Which teams from which years have the greatest home records?
The Empire strikes again.
The 1932 and 1961 New York Yankees, both World Champions, have the top two best home records of all time.
Fifteen are the fewest number of home losses for any team with a 154-game schedule (77 at home), while 16 are the fewest ever for a 162-game schedule (81).
The 1931 Philadelphia A’s, losers to the St. Louis Cardinals in that year’s World Series, are the only other team in baseball history with a home W-L percentage of at least .800 for a single season.
The A’s feature as prominently as the Yankees on this list: 5 appearances apiece…amongst the top 20 best single season home records ever.
The American League dominates: fifteen teams made the cut.
