Kentucky Has Won More Conference Tournament Titles Than Any Other Team

Just a couple more days until Selection Sunday. Sixty-eight schools will make it into the NCAA Tournament.

How do they get there?

Here’s how:

1. 31 – schools automatically get a tournament berth by winning their conference tournaments.  Take a look at the 33 items (including “Independent”) in the list below.  These are the current NCAA basketball “conferences,” along with the school that has won the most conference tournaments for each.

2. 1 – The Ivy League does not have a conference tournament.  The winner of the regular season goes to the tourney.

3. 36 – That leaves 36 teams that are known as “at-large bids.”  These are the additional schools, based on regular season performance, that are invited to the dance floor on Selection Sunday.
